5 tips for attending the Orlando Informer Meetup solo

| |

Whether it’s your first or fifth time attending the Orlando Informer Meetup solo, it’s normal to feel a little nervous. You may be wondering if you’ll be able to have fun on your own, or how hard it is to connect with other attendees.

Good news: there’s no need to be nervous! I’m a big proponent of alone time and its many benefits, and I think going to the OI Meetup on your own can be just as fun – if not more fun – than doing so with a group. Below, I’ve compiled a few of the ways you can make the most of it when you ride solo, Orlando Informer-style.

1. Connect with other OI Meetup attendees in our Orlando Informer Community on Facebook

Did you know there’s a community of over 130,000 other Universal fanatics just waiting to meet you? The Orlando Informer Facebook Community is the perfect place to connect with other solo OI Meetup attendees. Once you’ve joined, you can create a post introducing yourself and letting everyone know that you’re looking for fellow solo travelers! Don’t worry – we promise everyone will be thrilled to meet you.

2. Treat yourself to your favorite snack or drink

Churros with cream cheese and chocolate dipping sauces

It’s your Orlando Informer Meetup, and you’ll eat way too many churros if you want to! After all, when you travel solo, you get the first and last say in what you do.

Nothing’s more frustrating than when everyone disagrees about where to eat, but you won’t have to worry about that. Best of all, an OI Meetup is a food-lover’s paradise. Tickets include unlimited food and non-alcoholic beverages, so the sky’s the limit!

3. Let your best roller coaster scream out

You know that feeling when you’re riding a roller coaster and you want to scream your lungs out, but you’re too embarrassed that your friends will hear? Well, when you’re at an Orlando Informer Meetup on your own, you don’t have to worry about that. All of the other riders will be fellow attendees – and, trust me, they will be screaming right along with you. Set your wildest roller coaster scream free!

4. Try something you’ve always wanted to

The best part about attending an OI Meetup solo is setting your own agenda. Everything you do is entirely up to you – so why not try something new? For example, if you’ve never helped protect the AllSpark before, now’s the time to finally take on TRANSFORMERS: The Ride–3D! Or if you’ve always wanted to fly high above the Hogwarts™ Quidditch™ pitch, it’s time to give Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ a try.

With little to no wait for rides and attractions, this is your chance to experience something different on your own terms.

5. Soak it all in

With little to no crowds, the Orlando Informer Meetup is the perfect opportunity to soak in the subtle sights and sounds of Universal Orlando Resort. Whereas you might feel like you’re slowing everyone else in your group down if you did this normally, when you’re going it solo, you have all the time in the world to take things at a leisurely pace. Those neon lights and palm trees aren’t going to admire themselves!

I’m confident that you were born ready to take on the Orlando Informer Meetup as a strong, independent, solo traveler. Just don’t forget the most important part: buying your tickets!
