6 vegan meals you can enjoy (unlimited!) at the Orlando Informer Meetup

| |

As someone who is both vegetarian and obsessed with eating, finding out what food is involved in any proposed plans is often my first priority. Especially when it’s an all-you-care-to-enjoy situation, I want to make sure there are enough options for me to chow down on until both my heart and stomach are content.

For this reason, I empathize with vegans who often have even fewer choices. I know how limiting a vegan diet can be, and that’s why I was so excited to survey this winter’s Orlando Informer Meetup menu to find tons of awesome options!

With unlimited food included in your OI Meetup ticket, it’s the perfect opportunity to treat your taste buds to some fresh flavors. These aren’t your average, boring vegan offerings, either – we’re talking delicious, full meals that let you indulge in some of Universal Orlando Resort’s best theme-park fare.

Is your mouth watering? Mine, too. Without further ado, let’s explore six vegan meals you can enjoy (unlimited!) at the Orlando Informer Meetup:

1. The Mummy Vegan Sandwich with Roasted Cauliflower and Broccoli

Location: Universal Studios’ Classic Monster Cafe

I love any opportunity to try interesting, new vegan meals (especially when I don’t have to cook them myself), so I can’t wait to try The Mummy Vegan Sandwich at Monsters Cafe! The monster-inspired specialty serves up slow-cooked jackfruit, crispy onions, and crunchy slaw on a kaiser roll, and it has received rave reviews from fellow veg-lovers.

Considering how much I tend to eat during the OI Meetup, it’s nice to have the option to pair this sandwich with the healthier option of roasted cauliflower and broccoli to keep my stomach happy.

2. Chick’n & Avocado Sandwich with Garden Salad

Location: Mel’s Drive-In

I’m not typically a fan of meat substitutes, so I was shocked when I fell in love at first bite with the Chik’n & Avocado Sandwich at Mel’s late in the second night of our February 2020 Orlando Informer Meetup. In my world, avocado on anything makes it better, and it definitely works wonders as a spread on this sandwich. The “chick’n” is flavorful, with a surprisingly enjoyable texture that doesn’t make you think too much about chewing – my top complaint with most faux-meats. The garden salad is a great, fresh accompaniment, too – all enhanced by the ambiance of Mel’s Drive-In, of course.

3. Vegetable Pasta with Apple Beet Salad

Location: Finnegan’s Bar & Grill

Finnegan’s Bar & Grill is one of the most beloved restaurants in Universal Studios Florida. Luckily, being vegan doesn’t mean you have to miss out on its homestyle flavors – you can dig into a warm, savory Vegetable Pasta while enjoying its Irish bar-themed atmosphere. This pasta dish pairs perfectly with an apple beet salad that’s particularly delish if you’re craving something beyond the garden variety.

4. Vegan Supreme Burger with Curly Fries

Location: Wimpy’s

Wimpy’s boasts the best burgers, and those extend to vegans, as well. Wimpy’s Vegan Supreme Burger is a plant-based sandwich loaded with all the fixin’s: vegan cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion, and veganaise. I personally recommend tossing some of your curly fries right on there, too! Complete your meal with pineapple sorbet for dessert (yes, it’s vegan!).

By the way, now seems like a good time to point out the impressive amount of fried potato varieties that are also unlimited for your enjoyment at the OI Meetup. You’ll find French fries, wedge fries, curly fries, and tater tots at dining locations across both parks. Pretty amazing stuff, no?

5. Spaghetti Bolognese with Garlic Breadsticks

Location: Louie’s Italian Restaurant

I may not be Italian in my genes, but I’m definitely Italian in my stomach – so imagine my delight in discovering that the Orlando Informer Meetup menu includes an old-fashioned (but vegan-friendly!) spaghetti bolognese. “Meat” sauce tops steamy pasta that can only be made better by a garlic breadstick that’s ready for dipping. This is one of my favorite fuel-ups following a ride on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

6. Burger with French Fries

Location: The Burger Digs

If you’re the type of vegan who can’t help but order a good ol’-fashioned meatless burger and French fries wherever they’re available, you’re in luck – your go-to fave is ready to be ravished at The Burger Digs in Jurassic Park. Looking for more to cure your herbivore cravings? Stop at nearby Thunder Falls Terrace for herb-roasted potatoes and corn on the cob, too.

Fear not, vegans – the OI Meetup has you covered with a plethora of possibilities to fuel your weekend of after-hours excitement at Universal. Which are you most excited to try? You’ll find me at Monsters Cafe scarfing down the Vegan Mummy Sandwich after my latest ride on Revenge of the Mummy. See you this winter!
